    Health Screenings at BSA Care Fair

    The BSA Care Fair will take place on Saturday, September 21 from 7-10 a.m. in the BSA Auditorium. The fair will include a free blood pressure measurement and blood draw to test triglycerides, cholesterol and glucose. For accurate results, all participants are encouraged to fast for at least eight hours prior to having their blood drawn.

    Wedding Bells at BSA

     
    Twelve years ago, Kerry and Rebecca Lucero met in the BSA Emergency Department.
     
    Four years later, the two were married at the BSA Chapel by BSA Spiritual Care Chaplain, Chris Caldwell.
     
    When it was time to plan the wedding, there was no question about where the two would marry, shared Rebecca. “We decided to get married at the BSA Chapel because our family is here. I’ve been here almost twenty years, so everyone here is like family to me.”

    BSA Celebrates Mother Heading into C-Section

    After spending eight weeks in the BSA Labor and Delivery Department, Tracy May was more than ready to give birth to her twin girls.

    The mother of two (now four) had spent eight weeks in the BSA Labor and Delivery Department, due to her monoamniotic pregnancy. Monoamniotic twins are identical twins that share an amniotic sac and placenta but have separate umbilical cords. Monoamniotic twins are rare and occur in approximately 1 in 35,000 to 1 in 60,000 pregnancies. There are many risks associated with this type of pregnancy, requiring constant fetal monitoring.

    A Heart for Helping Victims of Hurricane Harvey

    Two years ago, Michelle Hutton, Reimbursement Coordinator in the BSA Pharmacy and Lori Lineman, a Certified Pharmacy Technician began training for the Emergency Medical Task Force (EMTF). The EMTF is an organization of state medical teams who are rapidly mobilized in times of disaster.

    Following Hurricane Harvey’s landfall in South Texas, Michelle reached out to ask if BSA was needed for relief efforts.

    “I didn’t think we would be needed since it was so far away from Amarillo, but I wanted to offer help,” Michelle said. “The next day, they asked Lori and I to head south.”

    When Donna Morton heard from BSA Harrington Cancer Center Nurse Navigator Bobbie that she had been diagnosed with ductal carcinoma (DCIS) last July, Donna was in disbelief. “You don’t believe it at first,” she shares. “Then it starts to sink in. I had never had any pain or found a lump, so I had no clue it was there, which is why it came as such a shock.” Donna had made it a point to go to BSA Harrington Breast Center for her annual mammogram every year since she turned 40.
