Wound Care

A Comprehensive Approach to Wound Care

A wound or sore that will not heal is more than an irritation: It can affect how you function each day. Sometimes, a wound can be life-threatening because of the risk of severe infection. As Amarillo's only wound care facilities with three board-certified wound care specialists, the BSA Advanced Wound Care clinics provide patients with a complete treatment program for chronic, non-healing wounds. Treatment may include a variety of therapies, debridement, and education.

Our clinics treat wounds associated with a variety of conditions, including:

  • Diabetes
  • Pressure Ulcers
  • Trauma
  • Non-healing Surgical Sites
  • Immune Disorders
  • Cancer
  • Burns
  • Bites
  • Vascular Disorders

Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (HBOT)

You will lie in one of our state-of-the-art hyperbaric oxygen chambers for HBO treatment. The HBO chambers at BSA Advanced Wound Care utilize 100% oxygen under pressure to supersaturate the blood and plasma with oxygen molecules. This oxygen supersaturation causes the body to grow more blood vessels and stimulates subsequent tissue growth. This growth occurs where there is a void in the body, such as a wound, thus healing wounds from the inside out. The most common wound indications for HBO are non-healing foot wounds, radiation injuries, and certain types of bone infections.

Patients with the following conditions may benefit from HBOT:

  • Diabetes and a wound that is slow to heal
  • Damaged tissue from radiation therapy
  • A skin graft with insufficient blood supply
  • Certain infections of the bone and skin
  • Anyone with a wound that has shown no improvement in four weeks
  • Comfort During Your Treatment

Each of our four chambers was designed with your comfort in mind. With their straightforward acrylic design, you can easily communicate any needs during your treatment with our care team.

You will be able to:

  • Watch a movie
  • Talk with your technician
  • Watch TV shows

If you have questions regarding HBO, please call BSA Advanced Wound Care at 806-212-4700.
