BSA Cardiothoracic Surgery

Leading with Heart

BSA Cardiothoracic Surgery provides the highest quality, patient-centered cardiac care to the Texas Panhandle. Highly-trained BSA Cardiothoracic Surgery physicians partner expertise and surgical skill to diagnose and treat issues with the heart, lungs and other organs in the chest.

BSA Cardiothoracic Surgery offers a wide-range of services, including:

  • Improvement of blood flow to the heart through coronary artery bypass graft surgery.
  • Opening the chest wall to operate on damaged lungs.
  • Removal of damaged or diseased sections of the lungs.
  • Replacement of a dysfunctional aortic root with a synthetic tube. The aortic root is the portion of the aorta closest to the heart.
  • Replacement of the aortic valve with a prosthetic valve. The aortic valve allows oxygen-rich blood to flow from the heart to the body.
  • Replacement of the mitral valve with a prosthetic valve. The mitral valve regulates blood flow from the lungs to the heart’s main pumping chamber.
  • Replacement of the tricuspid valve with a prosthetic valve. The tricuspid valve controls the direction of blood flow through the heart.
  • Surgery to repair bulges in the aorta, commonly known as aneurysms.
  • Surgery to repair holes in the wall of the heart.
  • Video-assisted procedures to provide the patient with a minimally-invasive approach to surgery, with less pain and a shorter recovery time. During video-assisted surgery, the surgeon will make a minimally-invasive incision in the chest and use a small camera to transmit images of the procedure onto a large screen.
