BSA's CardioMEMS™ Heart Failure (HF) sensor implantation procedure is providing patients suffering from heart failure the ability to proactively monitor their condition from the comfort of their home and reduce their chance of future hospitalization.
Procedures are performed in the BSA Cardiac Catherization Lab by BSA's highly-trained cardiovascular professionals and credentialed cardiologists.
During the procedure, the CardioMEMS™ HF sensor, which is roughly the size of a paper clip, is implanted into the pulmonary artery during a heart catherization.
After the CardioMEMS™ HF sensor is implanted, the patient will send daily pulmonary artery pressure updates to their physician using a device which connects to the CardioMEMS sensor. Pulmonary artery pressure data shows silent indications of worsening heart failure.
To send data, the patient will lie down on the device for a short period of time. The device will collect the sensor's data and upload it to a website which the patient's care team can access. If data shows worsening symptoms of heart failure, the care team will work with the patient on a treatment plan.
The CARDIOMEMS™ Heart Failure (HF) System is intended to be used in patients who:
